Privacy Policy
Closeness Lab (“we”, “us”) is operated by an independent individual publisher and publishes closenesslab.com. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and your rights. We are the data controller. Contact: [email protected].
What we collect
- Information you give us: any message you send us, for example when you email us with a question or correction.
- Automatically collected: basic analytics (pages viewed, approximate region, device/browser type) via Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless — see Cookies below.
- We do not ask for or intentionally collect special-category data. We treat any interest in sexual-wellness topics as sensitive and do not use it to build advertising profiles about you.
How we use it
- To operate and improve the site and its content.
- To respond to messages you send us.
- To measure aggregate, privacy-respecting traffic statistics.
Advertising & affiliate tracking
- If we run any advertising on this site, it is contextual advertising — ads chosen based on the page’s topic, not on tracking your behaviour across sites, and never based on special-category (e.g. health/sexual) data. This reflects GDPR Art. 9 and DSA Art. 26(3).
- Affiliate links may set a cookie on the retailer’s side so a purchase can be attributed to us — see our Affiliate Disclosure for how that works. We do not receive your payment details.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies. We do not use cookies for analytics, advertising, personalisation or any other purpose, so there is no consent banner to click and nothing to opt out of.
We measure traffic with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and does not fingerprint visitors. It records aggregate page views, referrers and approximate region only — never an identifier that can be tied back to you.
Your browser’s local storage holds one item, cl-age-confirmed, which remembers that
you confirmed you are 18 or older so we don’t ask again. It is stored on your device,
is never transmitted to us, and you can clear it at any time through your browser settings.
Affiliate links are different. If you click an affiliate link you leave this site and the retailer may set their own cookies under their own privacy policy. That happens on their domain, as a result of your click — we set nothing on their behalf.
Your rights
- EU/UK (GDPR): access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. You may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
- California (CCPA/CPRA): know, delete, correct, and opt out of “sale”/“sharing” of personal information. We do not sell your personal information.
- To exercise any right, email [email protected] or use our Contact page.
Data retention & security
We hold no personal analytics data to retain — Cloudflare Web Analytics reports only aggregate, non-identifying figures. We keep messages you send us only as long as needed to respond and resolve your enquiry. We use reasonable technical measures (HTTPS, access controls) to protect data.
Children
This site is intended for adults 18+. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18 (or the age of majority where you live).
Changes
We may update this policy; the “last updated” date will change. Material changes will be noted on this page.
This policy should be read together with our Terms of Use and Affiliate Disclosure. Questions about either? Contact us.
